We need volunteers to help mobilize the entire community, we are looking for Block Leaders to represent every street and avenue in College Point. The Block Leaders will be responsible for alerting their neighbors whenever we have an event or problem in College Point. This is a powerful way to unite an entire community and make us stronger. Remember, the strong are never picked on! We got this idea from representatives in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. One of their protests against DHS had about 10,000 people. They are able to mobilize their community instantly when there is a problem. EVERYONE must be involved, if we are going to reverse this decision and come up with a better plan to help the neediest members of our city.
Requirements for Block Leaders:
- Understand how to access email
- Someone who checks email regularly
- Someone willing to print out flyers for their neighbors or pick them up from us (However, it would help save money if you made the copies.)
- Talk to your neighbors and help explain what is going on (If they don’t speak your language we can help with that.)
- If you want to be a block leader but you do not use email, we can work with you via telephone
